The European Development Days (EDDs) were held on 3 and 4 June, as part of the European Year for Development 2015. The motto for this year was ‘Our World, Our Dignity, Our Future’, and it provided an opportunity for European actors in development to share, communicate, exchange and debate this topic and the future challenges facing them. Participants included civil servants, Nobel prize-winners and project leaders. This forum was an opportunity for everyone interested from around the world to share knowledge and experience, and present creative ideas.
One of the key sessions took place on 4 June, entitled ‘Urban future leading the development agenda’, organised by FEICOM, the European Confederation of Junior Enterprises, PLATFORMA, the United Nations Development Programme and Barcelona Provincial Council, and dealt with the challenges posed by urbanisation.
In this context, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) encourages local governments to join in international debates to achieve their goals and face arising challenges and opportunities, thus ensuring sustainable development in the coming decades.
