Local governments call for greater involvement in the Post-2015 indicators

Indicadors

Local governments, through the main Local Authorities Group, part of the Global Task Force, have sent a letter to the joint presidents of the intergovernmental negotiations on the 2015 development agenda asking for formal mechanism to take part in the Major Groups and other interested parties in the Inter-agency Expert Group on indicators for Sustainable Development Goals. This letter has received support from over 150 groups and organisations involved in the Post-2015 process.

Local and regional participation in discussions on the indicators is particularly important, as they will be vital for measuring the progress in urban areas, such as eradication of poverty, water, infrastructures, economic growth, inequality and combating climate change, among others.
