Consultations on the local and regional government Global Agenda

Throughout March, the UCLG organised a series of consultation sessions in the World Secretariat in Barcelona to compile contributions to the Global Agenda of Local and Regional Governments for the 21st Century. The sessions are part of an ongoing consultation process being conducted either in person or online over the next few months in preparation for the Habitat III Conference, in which the Committee on Decentralisation and Local Self-Government is taking part.

These sessions were structured into two groups of cities: on 23 and 24 March, the session for intermediate cities was held, which explored ways of contributing to defining their agenda to improve their representation work and increase their international profile; on 30 and 31 March, the metropolitan and suburban cities session was held, which examined the tensions and potential alliances between these two groups of cities. These consultations will continue throughout April.
