Hangzhou (China) will host the UCLG World Council 2017

From December 7 to 10, will take place in Hangzhou, China, the World Council of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). The World Council is the UCLG's main body, it is held annually, is responsible for deciding the policy of the organization and ensuring the implementation of policies decided by the General Assembly.

It’s expected that in this World Council, the members of the Policy Councils, new UCLG organizational instruments designed to increase the political impact of local governments on the global sphere, will be ratified. The president of Diputació de Barcelona, ​ institution that leads the Decentralization and Local Self-Government Committee, will be ratified to co-lead the Territorial and Multilevel Governance Policy Council, and Sustainable Financing. This co-leadership will offer the opportunity to participate in the formulation of policies and a greater involvement in the global debates.

Beside this event, it will be held the Forum on Smart Cities and Big Data, organized by the City of Hangzhou and the Association of the Chinese People for Friendship with foreign countries.
