From the 5th to the 7th November the next United Cities and Local Governments’ (UCLG) World Council will be celebrated in Madrid. The Council’s agenda will include the celebration of the Executive Bureau, as well as the meetings of the different commissions and political councils. The World Council is one of the main government organs of UCLG and is celebrated with annual periodicity; it is in charge of deciding the organization’s policy and ensures that the policies decided by the General Assembly are implemented.
In parallel to this event, the II World Forum about Urban Violence and Education for Peace and Coexistence will take place, which is organized by the Madrid and Barcelona town halls, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP for its acronyms in Spanish), UCLG, Metropolis and UN-Habitat, among others. The forum is a space of meetings among local leaders, international networks, academia, NGOs and civil society for debating, thinking and building solutions to promote urban spaces without any form of violence. The inscriptions to participate are open until the next 30th October.
