As part of the preparations for the UCLG Executive Bureau in Porto Alegre (Brazil), the Municipal Seminar on Decentralisation and Local Government, organised by the Brazilian National Confederation of Municipalities, will take place on 9 and 10 June, and the UCLG Committee on Decentralisation and Local Self-Government will be taking part. The aim of the seminar is to contribute to discussions on decentralisation in Latin America, and in other countries, and to identify new challenges and opportunities.
It targets municipal managers and representatives of municipal associations taking part in the UCLG Executive Bureau, Brazilian and Latin American municipal leaders, and representatives of the private sector, civil society and academia.
The Brazilian National Confederation of Municipalities is the largest municipal association in Latin America with over 4,600 members. One of its main aims is to promote a more balanced decentralisation model, for which it represents the interests of Brazil’s local governments before the Federal Government and the National Congress.
