The UCLG City of Bogotá Peace Prize was launched to give recognition to local governments as actors in consolidating peace. The prize is awarded to local governments that undertake initiatives in conflict prevention or resolution and building peace.
The prize, to be presented every three years, will be awarded for the first time during the World Congress of the international organisation United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) to be held in Bogotá from 12 to 15 October 2016. The candidatures will be studied by a high-level jury and the winning local government will be awarded €20,000 to strengthen peace projects and facilitate learning exchange between local governments. The official presentation of the UCLG City of Bogotá Peace Prize took place on 19 November in the host city, Bogotá (Colombia), and was organised by the Dutch Association of Municipalities (VNG) and the city of Bogotá, with the support of the Dutch NGO PAX and Barcelona Provincial Council. Interested local governments can present their candidatures on this website.
